Dear
Friends,
Through visual arts, language arts, and music, we believe that children and
adults build self-esteem and self-expression. We believe
any student can develop artistically through the
combination of learned technique and consistent
affirmation.
Piano instruction begins with basic music theory. Emphasis is placed on theory and personal expression as students excel and become competent pianists. Several methods used are the Alfred Series, Faber and Faber, and Keith Snell. Instructors are open to personal choice of music series and styles.
Creativity in language arts develops the students'
academic skills in many areas. Mastery of this subject
is crucial for each student's confidence and
understanding in using their own unique learning style.
We teach phonics, grammar and punctuation, creative
writing, and preparation for writing at the college
level. Private tutoring is available for students in
kindergarten through high school.
At the Garden of Arts, we teach each visual art medium
with a step by step approach. Students develope their own unique work using the tools they acquire.
In time, they imitate
the
Masters,
then
further
develope their own artistic style.
Our visual arts students start with
Beginning and
Continuing Drawing.
We use basic shapes and the
value scale to build images and create realism. With pastels, we teach
introductory color theory that prepares our students for
further color theory in painting. After eight to sixteen weeks of drawing, we encourage
students to enroll in
Beginning Acrylic
Painting.
Here they study more color
theory and learn to use different brushes and knives. Students are
impressed by their own paintings while “letting color do
all the work.” Multi-Media
introduces artists to design theory. Students gain
confidence with sculpture, collage, and
other resourceful three dimensional art using
materials such as cement, glass, batik...
Whether developing skills in language arts, music, charcoal, collage, clay, or
paint…our students find success developing the
creativity God has given them!!!
We would love to
hear from you!!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Sharon
